On your mark, get set, GO!

Last night was our ward pinewood derby. And can I just say....what a successful event it was!! We did things a little differently than last year and I think the changes really made a difference in the whole spirit of the night. The boys weighed their cars and turned them into our Cub Committee Chair the night before the event. Not only did this ensure that all cars were legal, but it shaved HOURS off the actual event! Brilliant!! Our assistant Cub Master also put together a sweet slide show that put the cars on an overhead projector next to their corresponding names. It was great to be able to see who was racing in what lane and who owned which car. Again...Brilliant!! The night of the derby everything was in perfect order and ready for a fabulous night of racing. What a super success!! I have to brag a little and say that I have the BEST boy scout team EVER!! I know ALL the hard work that went into this event and they managed to pull it off....flawlessly!

So, how did we make out, you ask? Well, Jackson's car was terrific! He painted it green (big surprise, I know), and named it the "Green Hornet." He had a blast working on it with his Dad and it definitely had some "get up and go!" He didn't place in the top three, but he did take home an award for "best retro car." Not too shabby! Another highlight of the night is that Jackson's best friend, Kyle, took third place! Jackson was SO ecstatic, you would have thought he had won the award!! At the end of the race he came up to me and said, "Mom, it's okay that I didn't make it into the top three. I had fun and I'm happy because Kyle took third!" I just love my Jackson. He has just the biggest heart! I was so proud of him! Not just for that, but for the sportsmanship that he showed throughout the night. After all....that's what it's all about :)

spring break 2009

We successfully made it to the end of another Spring Break! And Spring it was. We enjoyed a little of all the weather elements Mother Nature threw at us....including snow!! It sure comes and goes quickly and I think it's safe to say that we are all ready for a normal routine again. As fun as vacation is, it's always nice to get back to reality. No pictures to post, but we sure crammed a lot into five days! A little pool time, a fun cousin sleep over, visited the movie theater, enjoyed a day at Discovery Gateway, and even had cousins over for lunch and a little WII! The only thing missing this week was having Aaron enjoy some time off with us. Maybe next year:)

easter tidbits

I realize Easter was last week, but it's been crazy trying to find time to post about our weekend. Pretty low key, but lots of fun. We spent Saturday coloring eggs so the Easter Bunny would have something to hide. Things went pretty smoothly until I realized that due to lack of vinegar, everything was staining! Thank goodness for old t-shirts and a table that's already been through the war!

We spent Sunday at church enjoying the reason for Easter celebration. After church we spent the day at my Mom and Dad's house with a delicious ham and good company. The kids enjoyed their traditional egg hunt and then a couple of games that Gram had prepared. And despite the sugar high the kids were on, we had a great time!

another favorite thing...

Surprise! I have a new favorite thing! I know it's probably not normal to post about perspiration, but when you find something you LOVE and something that WORKS it just makes you super excited...no matter what the product. That is why I am posting about the BEST deodorant I have EVER used! There are so many rules when it comes to deodorant. Some say use the same thing and don't switch. Others say that you will sweat less if you switch things up. Well, I have tried it both ways and have yet to find something that works....until now. It's called Certain Dri and you can find it at Walgreens. A little more expensive than what you might pay, but worth it. In fact, it is so great that you only need to put it on ONCE before bed. It's true! I don't even need to put it on in the morning before I run. Once before bed and you're good to go. I'm sorry that the topic of this post is not the best. SWEAT?! I know, but who doesn't worry about it? Anyway, check it out or give it a try! You'll love it :)
